Great piece! I have to admit that I am an Apple Fanboy so my views are slightly slanted in their favor. When you compare an iPhone to virtually ANY Android phone, the planned obsolescence is no longer an issue. You still see many iPhone 6's out in the wild and that came out in 2014 and getting software updates until this year.

You will never see that in an Android. Apple is keeping their phones out of the landfill for a very long time (in the tech world).

We should keep our tech longer and resist the upgrades, but even if we don't, our old phones are still making someone else's life better somewhere.

and of course, Apple is making billions in the process!
